That I Would Be Good

Yesterday was the big day of the hen party, and I have to say it turned out perfectly, even though there was no chippendale boy (thank God). Frankly, I'm totally tired with a real heavy headache, and not quite in the state to write about it in details, though would do so happily. We had lots of gin tonic with elderblossom syrup and champagne with rapsberry syrup and Berentzen, which is a kind of apple liqueur. I arrived home (to my boyfriend's) shortly after 6.15 am, which is saying a lot. Then I slept about four hours altogether, had breakfast, had a bath etc.
Luckily this happens to be the once-in-a-year weekend when my boyfriend's father is away, and even more fortunately for us, his younger brother was away too, so we had all the house for us (and not for cleaning). For example, on Friday evening we watched Woody Allen movies, and on Saturday morning we worked on his model Titanic.
In the afternoon (today, Sunday) we went to the Robert Mapplethorpe exhibition at Ludwig Museum, and we loved it. Tell you the truth, I didn't even know the guy existed until a couple of months ago, when we went to an exhibition called "The Birth of Art Photography," and brought home a mag which recommended the Mapplethorpe exhibition. And ever since then I've been longing to see it, and recently I've started to be even more eager as I couldn't recall the closing date and didn't want to miss it. By the way, it's open until the end of September, so there you go.
Well, in short, if there's anyone even more ignorant than me, this guy was born in 1946, died in 1989, and worked mainly in the 1970s and 1980s. For some years he was the partner of punk singer and artist Patti Smith, who wrote the book Just Kids about their peculiar relationship, which won the National Book Award or something. I don't know much about Patti either, and I know it's a shame. She's claimed to be some really good singer and even poet. There was a video of her as part of the exhibition, and she looked just stoned and sort of nuts. The two of them reminded me a bit of Lennon and Ono. Mapplethorpe was bisexual and visited all kinds of underground subculture places, such as baths. Many of his best acknowledged pics are of homoerotic theme, some of them with sado-mazoistic elements. Lots of things that I bet Lady Gaga would relish. And there were lots of cocks exposed, so don't go there if you're prude. Besides the dare what I like in the pics are the composition, the light, the beauty of the human body, and the wit. Oh, and don't forget the gaze. He did miracles to his subjects. Yes, you get all that if you dare to look at it. My favorite pic of the exhibition was not one of bodies though, but a beautiful photo of Isabella Rossellini. Just love it. Pity they don't sell it at the museum shop. All they had were stills and cocks and cunts. Oh, and a picture of Mapplethorpe himself. A propos, I loved the self-portraits as well. This guy had a peculiar face and mind to work with.
Oh, I love a sweet little weekend with fun throughout.
