Yes, I'm listening to Diana Krall at the moment. And decided it's time I wrote something again. The particulars of this something are as yet to evolve. How come I'm tired at 10 pm? Me. For 1), I don't have a job and don't do much during the day. 2) I woke up at 11 am. And 3) Like I said, I don't do much these days. And perhaps that's the problem with the whole thing. My life is a) boring, b) depressing, c) depressingly boring. I spend a couple of hours editing book profiles on Moly. Fine. Then a couple more on fixing lunch, which is extremely difficult with an empty fridge. Occasionally some washing. Not too bad either. And yeah, I read a lot. I've just finished the second and third volumes of The Hitchhiker's Guide trilogy. Job applications I'm not in the mood for. Boyfriend on sick leave, not much to do there. Except getting on each other's nerves. Like over a game of Scrabble.
Honestly, the best part of today, and probably the whole week is the 60-minute session with my advanced/upper-intermediate private student. Yes, here's the challenge, fun, company, perspective, and a pretty good cup of tea. Well, not really a cup, but a huge mug of it.
All right, there was this gig we did on Saturday, it was okay too. Except that Mum didn't show up as usual. So bloody tipical.
And then, this week we'll have a role play party with the orchestra, in the style of the 1920s. You know, Prohibition, swing, mafia, feather boas and all that stuff. If I'm not mistaken it was designed by Hungarians. The way it works is, each of us gets a description of her character, like who is your husband, who is your lover, you look down upon everyone else and please wear a modest night gown. I'm gonna add a touch of Audrey Hepburn to it, with long black gloves and a chic cigarette-holder. Then, fake pearl necklace, a big flowery brooch, it will all be totally feminine. By the way, I'm gonna play a member of the elite, the wife of an MP (as played by my boyfriend). I'm gonna be all cool and self-confident, a bit of a Samantha Jones. I hope it'll be fun. Unfortunately though, I think there won't be liqueurs.
So long, my darlings.
Of course there won’t be liquors! After all, it is the Prohibition Era you are going to reenact.
ReplyDeleteYeah but don't forget that this is the era when lots of people got rich by selling liquor. And despite or exactly because of the Prohibition, they drank even more than they otherwise would have.
