The Best Is Yet To Come

Random acts of love or a few ideas to make you feel good or a hazy account of my past few days.
In order to be happy, you have to spend meaningful time with the thing/the man/the woman you love. Okay, try another way. As you can see in the previous post, I got lots of presents for Christmas, 5 of which was from my boyfriend. Then on New Year's Eve (after midnight) I got one more, for our anniversary. Fifth, that is. And a hand blender (botmixer). To our future kitchen, he said. He likes to remember things I say I want and then give them to me. Still, I have mixed feelings about this.
We spent New Year's Eve at home, with my Mom, her husband, Sis, my boyfriend, and me. It started out all right. We made lots of food (túrós pogácsa, püspökkenyér, svéd gombasaláta, franciasaláta, krumplisaláta, baconbe tekert kacsamáj), then in the afternoon I went to my boyfriend's and we watched the last five episodes of Friends. In the evening we had dinner with the family, then watched some TV, e.g. Royal Variete 2010 and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert, but from like 9 pm only the three of us remained and played boardgames. I mean, only one game, which was supposed to last for ca. 45 minutes, but turned out to be more than double of it. It's quite a complicated strategic game developed by Hungarians, and the characters are based on a fantasy book series my boyfriend and his family read. (The rules are a mixture of that of poker, Set and half a dozen other things, but after a thorough reading and a first round I got to like it.) In the meantime we had some Bailey's and sangria too (delicious with lime and orange slices). The disappointing turn was when before midnight Mom and spouse came downstairs and made remarks like this is dead boring, and all the usual bla-bla.
We ended the "party" around half past one I think. It wasn't my best NYE but not the worst either. I just can't bear all these you're-not-good-for-me remarks.
On Jan 1st and 2nd we continued the boardgame party with my boyfriend and Sis, while listening to Frank Sinatra, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk and all that stuff. In a way it feels pretentious, but I like them indeed, and they totally matched our mood. The funniest part was the German Scrabble set with 15 E's but it does it until we buy a Hungarian one.
Since my boyfriend was begging for days to go somewhere in the city, today we went to the Gellért Hill area and had a great time. For example, we discovered a place called Philosophical Garden, found some posh villas with a view over the Buda Castle, took some pics with my mobile, then went home and had some spicy hot chocolate and hot sandwiches. At my boyfriend's we practised with our musical sheets because my sister started to play in the percussions section and often gets lost. So we listened to the music on Youtube, while she was reading the music and beating a pillow with a wooden spoon. My boyfriend acted as conductor, and I can tell he enjoys this thing a lot.
Then we each had a sajtos roló and had time for two rounds of Carcassone (a popular strategic boardgame).

P.S. On December 30 we watched The Hobbit with my boyfriend and brothers and girlfriends, which was my only movie theater event in 2012, but I still don't know whether to write a separate post about it or not. I liked the protagonist, or rather the actor (and the Hungarian dub) Martin Freeman, who played Arthur Dent in The Hitchhiker's Guide. I'm positive I'll never call him anything but Arthur Dent in the future.
P.P.S. Of course in the morning and before going to bed I keep on doing my job hunt quest and cross my fingers or something. And I'm reading Esterházy, food for thought, you know.
