Today's wisdom from Facebook. Anyway, it's a constant topic with me, and I wanted to share a few happy thoughts and experiences.Yesterday was our first Hindi lesson since mid-December, which is kind of crazy, but I remember most of what we've learned so far. In addition, we learned a couple of new things as well, so now I can express all of the following with each and every personal pronoun: Who are you? My name's X. (Actually, there's no x in their alphabet.) How are you? Fine, thanks. Everything's fine. I live in Budapest. I am a journalist. (Wish I were.) I'm learning Hindi. And I can also say that I'm learning Hindi in Budapest. Cool, huh? But I don't know any numbers as yet. Must find out how to insert Devanagari script in the blog.
After class we each had a gyros, as usual, and practised new vocab and structures all the way home. Mostly it's just drills, i.e. we replace the subject with my mother, my father, etc. But it's so much fun, and so good to share all this. By the way, the word pronounced pita means 'father,' and banana means 'to prepare food.' Fun, fun, fun.
Other than that, I spent the day taking care of the Moly.hu bookworm community website. That is, I filled in dozens of author profiles with wiki links, pics, and DOB. Nice way to spend the day (and night), isn't it? These days I go to bed in the small hours, then have trouble trying to sleep, scared of possible ufo/ghost visitors. This morning for example, I fell asleep at around 3 am, then woke up around 5, slept a bit more, and got up around 6.45. Lovely. And just now I cannot decide if I should sleep a bit more or try to go through the day in this zombie state and perhaps make myself useful. Will have a class at 2 pm, so don't have much time to spend.
Hold on to your nail polish, your Tüskevár, and what is left of your self-esteem, and try not to fall off during the ride.
P.S. My choice would be scream and enjoy.
