Yesterday

I'm gonna use this Beatles title to refer to two pieces of news that might seem pathetic to you but make me wonder and feel bitter.
The first. With a somewhat desperate, Amelie Poulain-inspired gesture yesterday I decided to apply for a job at Azték Choxolat, a real treasure chest on the Budapest gastro map. Situated near Deák, as you probably know, they make the best hot chocolate in the city, so the job would have been mixing, spicing and smiling, something that fits me genuinely (except for the smiling bit). I was about to write a motivation letter when I checked their website and found the following note: The position has been occupied but CVs are always welcome. I see it as God's intervention to prevent me leaving the prestigeous career of teaching English. Or else, someone was quicker than me.
The second. Singer Amy Winehouse, 27, was found dead. Drug overdose was considered as a possible cause. I don't really know how to relate to this as I'm not a poster-sticking fan of anyone the way I was at 12, but Amy is was someone whose music and strong voice I loved. I was pondering going to her concert at Sziget Festival when I read it had been cancelled. And now this. When I read news like this I always wonder how (and why) such things can happen. By the way, if I'm right, Janis Joplin also died at 27. And I'm not referring to losing talented artists here but losing a life in general, whether they die in a plane crash or due to drug abuse. I always keep waiting for another statement to withdraw and undo it, but of course it never happens.
