Well, I spent two days in bed (well, more or less). Meaning reading, teaing, peeing. Hello, and there goes your brilliant 24-hour unit. Well, I'm unemployed so why care? Anyway, in this half asleep, half awake manner I managed to read two books (ok the second one was already half read). Fülkefor by Lajos Parti Nagy and a collection of short stories by Kipling. And of course don't forget all the herbs, pills, drops, tissues, whatever.
Anyway, what I'm saying is, it came to my mind how good all this is. Lying in the neat hot bed, reading a nice book, not giving a fuck about the rest. I even made a wonderful nourishing, creamy pumpkin soup, which is gonna last for three days altogether. It was quite cheap and easy, if we don't count all the peeling and cutting. I added ground szegedi paprika, clove, and fresh nutmeg for a rich taste. You might want to serve it with roasted bacon, pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds for an even fuller orgy of scents and flavours.
You see, I cannot fully agree that this nasty beast of a cold ruined my entire weekend. True, I couldn't go to the orchestra session, visit private student or make cookies, but I had time for myself. And thank God I'm much better today.
Finally, let me just add a list of books I've checked out of the library (on Thursday, that is). I know I should read the books waiting on my shelf first, but they can wait, can't they. Plus, I couldn't resist.
- Se dobok, se trombiták by Parti Nagy,
- The Horse Whisperer by Nicholas Evans,
- The Complete Poems of Emily Jane Bronte,
- The Buddha of Suburbia by Hanif Kureishi,
- A pillanat by Magda Szabó,
- Corelli's Mandolin by Louis de Bernieres,
- The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
