This song won the 2012 Eurovision Song Festival, and I think she deserved it indeed. The whole performance looks very sensitive and artistic to me (and the singer is simply beautiful). It's a pity though that the group of Russian grannies came second in the contest. After a while I started to support anyone but them. Hungary became the 24th, which shows that it's all about politics rather than talent. Such productions as Cyprus and Greece, whose only talent lay in showing their limbs and shaking their asses, got better ranked than real singers. My favorite, Albania got into the first six though, so the voters weren't completely deaf.
I spent the greater part of Saturday (from 10 am to 4 pm) baking and decorating the Rainbow cake. It became wider and flatter than my friend's because I used a 10" pan istead of a 9" one. The yellow layer was the first one I baked and it stuck to the paper so strongly that I had to peel the paper off inch by inch. Also, it turned out quite thin, about 0.5 cm, so I was afraid that it would break, but luckily no such thing happened. I was quite tired by the time I finally finished it. The reason it took so long is that I have only one baking pan of that size, and each layer had to cool for 10 minutes after baking, which added about an hour to the summed baking time. In a few cases I decided to expand the batter with a little bit of milk and flour so that it won't be too thin, but I think either I should buy a smaller pan or multiply the ingredients by 1.2, e.g. 6 egg whites instead of 5. I'm not sure if I'll ever make this cake again, perhaps for my little sister's birthday or for my own future kids. The remaining cream I made into a trifle with sour cherries and sponge cake.
After finishing the cake I went to my boyfriend's, and we watched Game of Thrones, season 2, episodes 1 and 2. Then we came back to our house, had dinner, and watched the Eurovison Song Festival until about half past midnight.
On Sunday morning we woke to the alarm clock at 8.30, stayed in bed until about 9, made some sandwiches, and set off to the Budapest Zoo. My boyfriend is a great fan of the zoo, and a couple of weeks ago had bought a yearly ticket as well. The reason we went just now is that a new area called Museum of Life opened on the 25th. It is an interactive center focusing on life on earth, covering areas like evolution, ancient sea creatures, the body, bacteria and other tiny organisms, etc. Unfortunately it wasn't hundred percent completed, for example there were no captions at all, and sometimes you opened a drawer and there wasn't anything in it. The top level, called Martian base hasn't opened yet.
We got to the zoo at around 10.30 am and stayed until closing time; that is, 7 pm. We saw and did a lot and had a great time. For example, I touched a boa, had a parrot flown on my shoulder (against my intentions), saw the polar bear swimming past us right next to the glass wall, saw the baby gorilla, the beautiful tiger family, and most of the things to see. We had lángos and palacsinta for lunch. The only thing that bothered me was the number of children and the crowd in general. Of course, yesterday was Children's Day, and also this is a long weekend, and the weather was fair, but sometimes I just cannot bear the human race and especially its younger generation. You know, kids running and yelling and kicking and dropping litter, whatever.
And now it's Whit Monday, the weather is awful, and I'm at home doing the usual stuff, i.e. cooking, writing lesson plans, etc.

This rainbow cake is so beautiful!
