As I promised, finally let's collect some words that are hard for me to remember and which I seem to have come upon quite often recently in my readings, e.g. Eat pray love or The Beach. Usually I don't bother looking up words in a dictionary when reading a book, but to be on the safe side, I shall collect a few here so that I can check it later.
perplexed confused and anxious because you are unable to understand something; showing this (great word for me I suppose)
quizzical showing that you are slightly surprised or amused
frown to make a serious, angry or worried expression by bringing your eyebrows close together so that lines appear on your forehead (actually I don't think we have a single word for it in Hungarian)
scold to speak angrily to somebody, especially a child, because they have done something wrong
conspicuous easy to see or notice; likely to attract attention
auspicious showing signs that something is likely to be succesful in the future (wish I could use it to refer to my future)
I can't remember any more. Anyways, I'm happy I've looked them up. They might come in handy one day. Most of them were easy to interpret from the context, which means I'm not that bad at it after all.
